catmurray200@gmail.com
Hello everyone, I just joined and very excited to say that I have an 85 Cadillac Seville Elegante I've had for 3 years. Now I'm starting to restore it part by part. I started out trying to sell this car for my friend and ended up with it for this length of time. I really enjoy the car and I hoping to get it restored within the next year. I have two mechanics for it that have the OBD1 scanner. One mechanic knows a lot and the other doesn't. The rear shocks were air suspension shocks and because they were old and cracking they are changed to standard KYB shocks. I unplugged the pump but The dash light for the pump keeps blinking blue constantly. Neither mechanic really gives me a answer why it's blinking. Are there sensors for the suspension that I could pull a fuse on or disconnect somehow?? Thanks for your help, appreciate it.
Göran W
If my memory still serves me You can not UNPLUG anything to make it go away. Need a resistor to match the sensor that send the correct value to computer. No, I dont know the value...
BodybyFisher
Explain what you mean by standard KYB shocks, are they air shocks? These cars are level balanced with the air shock, it is a necessary part of the suspension. I do not know who would replace an air shock with a 'standard shock'. If you ever put 4 adults in the car you will be on the ground, and if you hit a pot hole or dip in the road good luck. The car is designed to be at a specific 'ride height'. The air leveling component is necessary. Did one of these mechanics suggest this? And why KYB? Please provide more details. He might be getting a ALC message related to the air leveling suspension. He can pull codes, but pulling the codes for the suspension was a little involved on the 85, and might involve interpreting flashes once in suspension diagnostic mode. My oldest manual is 88.
