Cool Performance unit for car

Good day All. Over this past weekend wile just looking around on the net I found this neet and simple to use performance anailzer from Escort. I have had lots of luck with Escort electronice and am very happy with my Solo S2. Look at the G-Timer on this web page. It's gtimer.com There are no hook ups but the power cord and it uses suction cups to the windshield. Pretty easy and you can take it out of the car when done. There are two models, a cheeper one and a pricey one. I think the 99$ one is fine, it gives the basics and that's all we need. Maybe someone here has one and can add info about it. We have some pretty sporty cars and I and I bet others would like to know how we do in a 1/4 mile. Later .

Hey guys. Bob thanks for telling me to check things out. I did and the info I found on these performance analizers was just wonderfull. I must say that I am very happy with the unit from mrdyno.com called Mr Dyno. It is far less pretty then the GTimer from Escort but the Mr Dyno has it all over the Escort unit. If you are into these things take the time to investigate them and you will see what I mean. My Dyno has much more Web Support and gives you the software on disk and is down loadable on there site, pluss it comes with the cables. The unit also has many more features and takes into consideration many more factors to give you as accurate performance readings as you spend time programming into the unit. The computer software based logging program is amazing with all the details it can track and graph for you. Those into such a device should check Mr Dyno out and see what you think. Take care. Matt

Hi again. I want to up date my findings from my last post on these two Performance analizers. I have corrections to make about my findings, there are a few errors as to what I reported. After spending a few hours tonight going over the user manuals for the Escort G2Timer and the Dr Dyno analizers, I find there are good points to the Escort unit. I reported earlyer that the Dr Dyno unit had it all over the Escort unit. I said there are many more user inputs with the Dr Dyno, BUT after reading the user manual on the Escort unit I found there are many of the same user inputs available for calibration as are on the Dr Dyno unit. Some of these inputs may be a bit simplified but they are still there. Though some are simplified it does use an advanced way of coming up with the same final outputs, thus making it more " user friendly". Lets face it, if you are not a drag strip racer it may be good to have something that is more user friendly. I said earlyer that "the Dr Dyno is far less pretty then the Escort". This is true BUT again it is now obvious that the Escort unit has a much more user friendly display. Its read outs are to the point and you do not need a manual to figure out what the read outs mean like you do with the abriviations on the read out of the Dr Dyno. The Escort shows you for example- 1/4Mi at 120 MPH / 9 sec. That is just an example from me,not Escort. On the Dr Dyno it is all shown by navigating through a complex system of menues and then it is all in abriviations. One would need the manual to figure it all out. Now downloading the data into your lap top with its software makes it better, but then just looking over sample data from the software I down loaded and set up, it's all is a bit complicated. I then checked out the software form Escort for its G2 Timer and it is again more user friendly. Yes there is a cost difference, the Escort is more money and then you need to purchase the cable and software making it even more expensive. All in all, I would buy the Escort G2 unit for it ease of use and its more to the point read out. I would still be confident that the data out put is accurate enough for me also. This is just my impression from my research . I hope this helps any one that may be interested in this type of unit. If anything I hope this prompts an interested party to research for him self as much as I did to make a wise purchase. Take care all...
