Do you know how much he payed for the Northstar and the transmission? Were they brand new? Does he do these modifications himself? I cant wait to see pictures.............. That would have to be the most unique Mustang I have ever heard of!

WTF! What is he gonna do with a FWD Mustang. If it were me, I would have torn apart the trunk, and mount the engine in the back. Those Mustangs weren't built to support that kind of weight up front. I sure hope he beefs up the suspenion. Tell him to go buy a heavy duty 700R4, and get the custom bell housing from CHRFab. That way, it can still remain RWD, like it should be.

Now that all this about the tranny im gonna have to check with him again, but im an almost sure he said its the Complete setup from a 2002 STS, ill ask about the price also.

ok, just Got off the phone with and the tranny is the original Tranny that came with the northstar, The Engine and Tranny was Pulled out of a 2002 STS with 23k miles on it that he bought as a Repairable wreck for 6,000. he took the stuff he needed and junked the rest. Now he said he Converted the RWD Stang to a FWD (Dont know how smart that was). Now with the Engine/tranny and Custom work he said the bill was around 13k. I am Trying to get the Pictures for you guys, he is supposed to Email me them tomorrow night

Another BS post from this guy. Why would this guy spend so much money on converting to a fwd mustang when it is rear wheel and when there are so many aftermarket performance products out there that can almost double the horse power for short money such as a supercharger and nos. Makes absolutely no sense to me. And the guy spent $6000 you say? Hmm is his name Chip Foose by any chance? <_<

Keep in mind this is the same guy that wouldn't trade his 1998 STS for a 2004 Chrysler 300c when that is worth way more and still under factory warranty. Regardless if the you think the Chrysler sucks, which it does, you could resell it and get a 2002 to 2003 STS pretty much as an even trade.

Jlaws,

I Could Careless What you Belive and as for the Chysler i made a HUGE Mistake it was a Rebadged Base 300, youll see when i post the Pics. if i was lying i could have made a hell of a better story then that!! I wouldnt have done it but what other people do with their money is their problem! if it where me i would have just Added a Vortech Supercharger and have more power then the northstar

Now it's a rebadged Chrysler 300c ? And I thought you checked for the Hemi engine and said it had alot more power than your STS. Anyway's I'll eat my words when I see it. I found no one on the web that is doing what your friend is trying to do. But I know a Northstar in a Pontiac Fiero is possible and that is pretty extreme.

Jlaw i apolize for what i said but it was in fact a base model 300, i didnt update it becuase i felt like an idiot, the one i drove was his 300c but he wanted to trade his wifes reg 300 (i didnt find out until like 3 weeks after i posted it) anyway he Treats his car like Crap .. i post the pictures when i get them.. i have better things to do with my time then make up a story about a northstar powered mustang, if i was into story telling i could have made it better like dropping it in a Civic, Escort or a Maxima.

"I found no one on the web that is doing what your friend is trying to do. But I know a Northstar in a Pontiac Fiero is possible and that is pretty extreme."

I've read about the Fiero's and I SWEAR I was in advanced auto parts about 3-4 years ago and I picked up a copy of "Off road" magazine and on the cover it read "Dropping a Northstar into a Old Willy's" The article showed all of the pics of the gutted engine compartment of a late 60's (not sure about year) Willy's and then the pics with the engine in place, fully wired ready to go. They said it was the ultimate off road toy....It was a while ago so I could be mistaken but I'm almost positive the engine they installed was N*

There are a few guys "out there" on the fringes who have used a N* in a RWD car, before GM did  a 700R4 from a 2.8V6 bolts up almost perfectly and can be modified to accept the HP and Torque ... I guess theoretically you could even modify the valve body to make one that was computer shifted.

IMO Converting a FWD car to RWD, and it’s done all of the time, is cool…

Going the other way is, well, just a little odd…

Maybe his “other car” is a Civic and he is tired of being blown away by FWD Northstars

That car is bad-*smurf*. My father and I were thinking about undertaking this project in my 67 but time and money are a key factor. When I do modify the power train I will most likely drop an early 70s eldo fuel injected beast into her....

Although we do have a 700-r4 emptyed and bolted onto a n* block ready to have the ear moved. One day it might happen.

Ya know for a look at a really creative project, it is pretty hard to beat the 91 Coupe deGolf Northstar.

I would never have picked a Golf, but..... you gotta admit you could have some fun with some unsuspecting hot rods. :D

For those who may have missed the project the links are below.
