kobalt
Would it be possible to upgrade my non-bose 1998 sls with a oem navigation unit? What would such an upgrade consist of besides the navi radio itself? Thanx.
weephee
Yes it is possible but you would basically need to replace the entire body harness from a 2000 or 2001 STS that had factory navigation. The reason I know is that I wanted to put navigation into my 2000 STS. 2000 was the first year for navigation and the wiring harness is totally different for cars with and without navigation. I originally thought all cars from 2000 on would be pre-wired for this option but that is not the case. It might be easier to buy a car with it already installed. JLAWS
Why don't you just get an aftermarket, flip screen with navigation. You'll be able to play DVD's also. It'll run you about $2000+ though. Much cheaper than the stock unit and less headache. Luckily you don't have Bose cause your speakers would have to be changed out. It was the #1 reason why I didn't get one for the 98 STS I had. I needed to change out all 8 speakers
