Cad1
I was thinking about rubbing out my paint to remove some oxidation and what looks like drive-through car wash marks. I rubbed out some areas when I de-badged the car and it looks great but I don’t think the clear coat is that thick (pretty sure it is a re-paint) and I was wondering what I should be aware of. I have read a bit about wet sanding, polishing and buffing but that is a bit more involved than what I’m looking to do. Let me know what you think. Rob_M
Theres some stuff from 3M called "Imperial Micropolishing Compound". It's incredible and they also have a glaze you can use after to make it look like glass.

tmpafford
Ya, try the clay bar first. I have used the Mothers kit, but any kit from a autoparts store will work. Just make sure to keep the area moist that you are working on. You will be able to feel the difference after the first swipe. Some kits even come with a special bottle of stuff that will fill the fine scratches and give a great smooth surface to then wax. I did it to my 97 several years ago and it looked great! Need to do it again this spring.
