Hesitation/ Stuttering?

STS Scott

Recommended Posts

Just before I went away for vacation, the STS began to develope a hesitation, similar to a few months ago, before I replaced the wires. It is regular now, and is definetly a persistent problem.

The contition comes and goes every few seconds as you accelerate, and occasionaly will backfire.

I am assuming the problem is spark-related, but what do you guys think?

Thanks!

How many miles are on the spark plugs? I had a similar experience last fall with my '96 SLS and 6 of the 8 plugs were missing the platinum pads - the gap was almost .080". A new set of Delco plugs solved the problem.

Hmmm, how many miles on the plugs?

They have not been replaced since I have had it, which has been for the past four years. The car currently has about 180,000 miles on 'er. I'm pretty sure they are the original ones.

I guess that will be the first step to take.

Problem Solved!

I had the plugs replaced today with 8 new AC Delco's, and all is well again!

Thanks for the tips guys! :)
