Its possible that they worked with the doors open and drained your battery. In reality they should have disconnected the battery since they were working on the electrical system.. I would take it on a long ride and charge it up good how old is it

its a delco purchased 9/01

If it happened for the first time chances are the shop drained it somehow. Just drive the car as usual and it should be fine.

The saddest thing in life is wasted talent

It takes a hell of a long time for interior lights to drain a battery enough so that the car won't start, sometimes taking a couple of days to suck a battery down enough so that the car won't start.

It could be your battery is boarderline; after all, it's a delco battery so what would you expect?

You might have some crud on the terminals, and even if they look, clean, the only way you can really tell is to remove them.

Let's give it the benifit of the doubt, because Murphy's Law always comes into play, and say that the problem comes from them leaving the doors open, and it ran the battery down. It can take quite a while for the alternator to bring up a battery, so it doesn't hurt to take it out for an extended highway-speed drive.

I too have found that the battery of my 2001 STS gets very low very quickly. It has happend a couple of times within the last couple of months. The most frequent "drain" occured when I had my windshield replaced. The glass shop had my vehicle for only 4 hours, and when I came to get my vehicle they had to "jump it."

I took the vehicle to a automotive battery specialist yesterday, I asked them to test the battery and if necessary to replace it. They ran a rather thorugh "load test" on the battery and found that it was supplying 950 CCA when it was only rated for 800. The indicated that my charging system was working flawlessly.

I even asked them if I should just replace it because of it's age, they not only told me not to spend the $110 bucks plus labor, but didn't charge me a penny for the testing. I honestly believe that most shops would have just sold me the battery anyway, but I was impressed with this companies honesty.

What caused my battery to run low on those occasions? I don't know, I have checked the cable taughtness, and their appears to be no corrosion on the terminals.
