Check the pigtail to the alternator. 

They are pretty common on that era. I have misdiagnosed alternators due to a failed pigtail.

Unplug and closely inspect the pigtail. (not the main cable but the wide plug), check the wires close to the plug.

Many times I have seen it bad right there.

When you accelerate the engine moves and could break a flaky connection, then on decel it drops.

Does the battery light come on? I  am assuming it does
