seabass Posted March 7, 2005 Report Share Posted March 7, 2005 I HAVE 2 , BRAND NEW O2 CENSORS IN THE TRUNK , HOW MUCH LABOR IS INVOLVED IN CHANGING THEM MYSELF AND WHERE ARE THERE EXACT POSITION ON THE ENGINE, AND WOULD IT HURT ANY TO CHANGE THEM. Ranger Posted March 8, 2005 Report Share Posted March 8, 2005 I am not sure about the '93 but my '97 has four O2 sensors. One on each manifold, one pre-cat and one aft-cat. I have never changed them but I think it is much like changing a spark plug. I also think there is a special socket needed but I am not positive about that. SeaBass, Yes, you probably can borrow the special socket from AutoZone. It looks like a deep-well impact socket, it is black in color, with a 5/8 wide slot cut into it. The slot is there to allow the use of the socket without damage to the wires coming from the top of the O2 sensor. Sometimes the sensors are difficult to remove...
