Alan (2 Caddy's) M.
MY '05 CTS MAKES AN ODD NOISE AT THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE MOTOR, ONLY OCCASIONALLY, SEEMS LIKE AT A CERTAIN RPM, I'VE CHECKED EVERY SHIELD AND THE CAT, CANT FIND ANY LOOSE PART, SOUNDS LIKE METAL VIBRATING ON METAL OR SPRING, OR VIBRATING DISC BRAKE BAKING PLATE, BUT CAN'T FIND THE CAUSE, I EVEN GUTTED THE RIGHT CAT, STILL SAME NOISE, CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. HELP!
BodybyFisher
Check the tensioners and idler wheels for bad bearings. Take serp belt off and check all accessories, tensioners and idler wheels for looseness and roughness. If you gutted the cat, you will get a P code that will stop the engine management system from going into closed loop and stay in open loop, in open loop it will run rich as if the choke were on in the old days, and wash the oil off the cylinder walls, dilute the oil and destroy the O2 sensors. Fix that CAT, you can have NO P codes.
