Check your fuses first!

You step on brake and no brake lights?

Does the CHMSL  brake light come on in the back window/trunk?

If NO check that bulb after the fuses!

Post results.

The only way to get the brake lights working is to turn on the headlights, the center light never works. This happen a year ago and the dealer charged me $1600. For a new ecm unit. With the head lights off I get no brake lights . All the fuses are good.

AHHH......Somebody cobbled in the LEDs huh?

That could be your issue right there!

Remove the LEDs and install regular bulbs and I bet that will fix the issue .

Some of those bulbs dont have the same contact/lug placement as the factory bulbs.

Thats why they only work with the headlights on because they are contacting the wrong

power lugs in the bulb sockets.

As far as I know the lights are factory stock .

The stock plugs plug right in . I checked and the  deville came with led lights from the factory

Factory LED tail lights.

The third brake light can fail all by itself....so it may be unrelated.

Each tail light has its own fuse in the fuse block under the back seat. To add to the confusion....the fuses are not located side by side....they are spread apart pretty far in the fuse block.

Does the car have a aftermarket alarm system or remote start installed?
