Hello All. I'm new here. Forgive me for starting a thread that I'm sure was covered already. I'm totally new to Cadillacs. Actually this is my first car that I have owned by myself. I inherited a 95 Cadillac Deville It has been leaking brake fluid and the mechanic I bought the car to to get fixed has told me the piece I need has been discontinued and hard to find. I told him I will try to help find it. I am having no luck. Any ideas where I can find what I need? I need a 18018429 proportioning valve. Is any other valve compatible? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Welcome.  There is a similar discussion in 2014 here:

Your mechanic is correct the part has been discontinued.  I would call the local Cadillac Dealer parts desk and ask them what their replacement plan is , if there is an equivalent replacement.

It's not really up to the dealer to find a part or solution for a 25 year old car.

Anyway....there is a site that shows a short list of dealers that may have one.

http://oemcats.com/oem-parts/18018429.html

Don't hold your breath on that list....but may be worth checking.

They are out there!  Seen several on line/fleabay/etc. along with a few universal units.

Check Dorman products as they have similar looking universal units.

Heres what the GM OE looks like:

I could be wrong but I am pretty certain that the newer tube style that was used in the 97+ should be a replacement for that valve.

I believe I still have one that you show.

Thanks Bruce for Reviving one of my Threads

Do you recall the specifics of how the new one works instead of the old one?  The old one appears to have 3 ports and the new one looks like it has 2.  Is that factual?

The old style only has 2 but internally works differently.

The newer style has the plunger in the tube rather than exposed in the block.

I replaced the ones in my 96 with the tubular ones without issue.

But I must note that I replaced my lines due to rust.

If you intend to replace just the valve you will have to modify your brake lines. I had run all new koni lines when I did mine so there was no issue

Thanks.  I don't know the answer, but I am concerned that if @ElizabethSowden needs to explain to her mechanic what to do with the new replacement, which is AC Delco 19244448 proportioning valve, rear brake,  'make it work' is not going to be specific enough.
