4.9 HEATER CONTROL VALVE YES OR NO?

Does the heater water line have a control valve in a 4.9?

I am wondering because my heat is sort of weak in the temp. dept.

Weather bad and its in the garage defrosting then I can check the heater water lines

for/If it has a Vacuum controlled water valve like I have seen on other Caddys.

I checked on-line parts houses and they show a 3 way connector when searching for a 

water control valve.  No vacuum hose nipples or electric plugs shown in pics of item.

Is your engine getting up to operating temperature; maybe a stuck open thermostat.

Not control valve for the 4.9 just a tee. Does the heat have cold pockets? How many miles ?

Its up to temp and all hoses and the "climate control valve" hot and installed correctly.

All heater hoses hot and at the same temp both in and out of firewall.

Temp on inside control at 80 and working correctly.

Found other heat complaints and checks on another Caddy forum.

Some were cured by install of a new heater core.

There is NO actual temp control valve (like older Caddys) just a 3 way restrictor "T"

no vacuum or electric hookups on it.

Will prob pull the glove box (easy) to check the heater temp door for proper operation.

To see if it moves/opens/closes correctly.

This is a one owner/oldster owned Fla. car with 90k so I figure they didn't use the heat much.

Mom had a 90 from new in NY and the heat would blast ya outta the car!

So there is a issue here and its COLD in NY!

Good news is the a/c has been converted to r-134 and is ice cold!

 

Sun is out and its not snowing gotta take a pic or 2!

 

Car dirty from the 1600 miles I put on it coming from Fla. and the sun is in the wrong place.

My next step would be the temp door or actuator to the temp door.  Good luck.

Yea...The temp door is behind the glovebox and is easy to check so will have the car in the garage today.

Its almost 50 and raining here in Syracuse today.  Blastin' snow for the few prev. days! 

Weather sure is screwy.  Can't wait to get back to Fla. for the winter!

Just a update:

Checked the accuator and temp. door  behind the glove box and they are operating as they should.

Heat temp still weak.

Will try a heater core flush but dont wanna have a ice rink in the garage.

Prob. should just replace the core as it looks easy except for connecting the hoses in the engine bay.

Well since the accuator and temp door is operating properly I guess the next step is a heater core flush.

I figure a female hose end plugged into the heater core lines and hooked to the water hose

will do the trick to flush the core.

Since I will be doing it in the garage having a couple of buckets handy and a extra piece of hose

so I wont have a skating rink on the floor.

The two hoses on the right side of the pic are the core hoses.
