1991 Eldo water PIPES need replacing!

My 91 Eldo has a slow drip and I think it is the coolant pipes that run along the side of the block  and I think they are behind the exhaust manifold. Has anybody replaced theirs? How do you get to them? I can see them but I don't see how to get to them.

Hello.

If they are anything like the mid 90s platform they are not that fun.

Do the pipes look rusted?

If so I would expect to replace the pipes and hoses.

It could be that #7 hose. Check the clamps if you can. Think they were wormgear. If you can spray the area with brake cleaner and dry it good.

That should help to closer pinpoint the source of the leak.

How much of a drip is it?

Sorry you had not gotten a response yet. Must have gotten missed.

Thanks for the replies. The leak is almost a steady stream when I pressurize the system. I can see the hose but I have no idea as to how to get to it. It looks like the radiator and condenser have to be removed to get to it.

So wait is this in front of the engine or the back?

It looks like the AC compressor which IIRC is front bottom of the engine. 

So you are saying they are on the Radiator side. 

What about from underneath?

It is the front of the engine on the passenger side of the block. I can see the hose but have no idea as to how to get to it. There doesn't seem to be a way from the bottom , but that is why I am asking if anybody has ever done this repair.

From what I remember I had a couple of these jobs back in the day. The is a pinhole that forms in the back of the water pump outlet housing , the black piece that is behind the timing cover, the piece the lower radiator mounts too. It's a job indeed!

I think they use a short silicone hose up in there....along with metal pipes. The idea being it would never require replacement for service life of the vehicle. 

I don't think it was designed to last 28 years. 

I bet you will have to remove the AC compressor to get to it and make repairs.

You are absolutely right. That was on the 4.9s. I remember those. Had nearly every one of them fail. Been awhile. That is probably the cause. 

NEed to be sure though by pinpointing to it. Otherwise it is just guessing
