Matt
Now that I have the idle problem 99 % solved with everyones help, I can move into something else. My1993 4.9L Seville has the factory alarm system and I was wondering if there is a way to "Enable" that chirp-chirp sound that you hear on most other alarms when it is turned on. I must listen very close when arming and disarming to the sound of the door locks moving to be sure if I pushed the remote buttons correctly. This is a bit of a pain. Thanks if any one has any ideas besides installing a new system. Matt
tmpafford
As far as I have been told there is no way to turn on a "chirp-chirp" sound or quick horn honk. And yes, it is a pain not to have that sound.
ero1220
I'm failry sure there is no "chirp" sound in the Seville like many other alarm systems have. I'm not surea bout the pre 98 model but you may be able to program the horn to sound when the doors lock... you might want to try the programming features on your OBD for a solution - if it isn't there, well, then, it isn't there. Scotty
I don't believe that you can program it for an audible but if I am not mistaken doesn't it flash the lights, once for armed and twice for unarmed? That notice was always sufficient for me, does yours do that? There has to be some sort of signal to let you know the alarm's status, Mike Early on sailors navigated by the stars at night and the North star became the symbol for finding ones way home. theGman
For what it's worth, my 96 SLS doesn't flash or make noise when locking/unlocking; only the sound of the solenoids doing their job. Paul

Paul My 96 Deville flashes its lights......HMMM, you are making me think. My wifes 2002 Monte Carlo has so many options for the alarm built right into the DIC (computer interface) and you can vary it from horn, lights, how to open the doors etc, I need to check the owner's manual, maybe we can customize it.. I have something odd however, I have a RED led near my headlight switch that looks like an afterthought, any ideas, I dont think I have ever seen it flash.. It reminds me of the old school type alarm armed indicators, but I have never really looked at it closely.. any ideas? franey
The red light means the alarm is set , it does not blink, just red only after you set the alarm.

Matt
Good Day to all. As always thanks for all the ideas. I read everything and , No- my outside lights do not blink to indicate the alarm is armed nor do any interior lights. The only thing I see is on my dash board ware there is an indicator that comes on when ever you open a door that says" Security". When you close the doors it goes off. It does nothing when you arm or disarm the system. The only thing there is, is the faint sound of the solenoids working. As far as getting into the computer to look at settings, I have not figured out how to run the menues yet in my 93 4.9L Seville nor do I have a code list to tell me what thing are that I might find in there. Thanks Guys. Matt
Scotty
Here is something that I found in my 96 Service Manual that I found interesting. This could be why some of us have different things happening when we arm our systems.. My car is not here right now but I will test this later, Mike Early on sailors navigated by the stars at night and the North star became the symbol for finding ones way home.
