mike5plus5
2003 Deville base - My car runs at high idle after cold start for several seconds (~ 30-60, depending on how cold), then the engine speed slows to normal idle speed. During this high idle cycle I hear a high frequency noise similar to what I would expect from a worn water pump idler pulley bearing. But this noise stops after the warm up cycle. Since the water pump runs continually anytime the motor is running, this excludes that bearing as being the problem. So what system operates only during warm up cycle that would produce this type of noise. Audio/video clip linked: HERE
rockfangd
The air injection pump Located behind the bumper at the left front of the vehicle. Only runs on startup. Injects air into the exhaust to lean the exhaust. Common issue. Probably has, had water in it. The raised idle is normal GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile
