terrylange
'97 Deville. When I press the trunk release button in the car, or use the remote from the key, I hear the loud "click" in the trunk, but the lid does not release. I have to use the key to open the trunk. Once the lid is open, when I stand behind it and use the remote, I still hear the loud click, and the pull down motor cycles up and down. Anyone know why the trunk lid isn't cutting loose? On a second, totally unrelated subject, what is the e-mail address to that discount gm parts source? I need a set of new plug wires (along with whatever I will need to repair my trunk pulldown) and don't want to pay retail. Thanks!
rbrantlee
Sorry, I can't help you with the trunk but here is one of the discount places. www.rockauto.com
Ranger
Also compare with http://www.gmpartsdirect.com. Sometimes one has better price than the other. Not really sure about the release without seeing it.
tmpafford
I still hear the loud click... the trunk lid isn't cutting loose? It sounds like the solenoid is working, but it is not doing anything. The solenoid should be pulling something or pushing something. I have not opened mine up to see how it is put together, but with a clicking sound and nothing happening, I would say the solenoid is not doing the work it should be doing. Anyone taken the assembly apart?
Ranger
I have tanken one apart an fixed it several years ago but I can't remember what it looked like. You know what they say, "the memory is the second thing to go". I'd just cycle it and see what it is or is not doing and it should become apparent. Maybe a broken actuator rod or something like that.
