BillyDz-es•T•es
Wel new to the site so I have a list... 8) My '98 sts will sometimes idle high randomly between 1500 to 2k. Most of the time I shut it off in drive so the trany doesn't take such a hit. Restart usually it's back to normal idle and regardless of this the motor also has a miss of some sort while idling, you can feel it in park or at still but drives good. Anything would help and/or be appreciated...
BodybyFisher
High idle. You may get a message "throttle body service" Do you? Check for.codes do.you know how? This could be a.vacuum leak, check code through DIC and post here. If you have a.vacuum leak we will see a lean code. To clean throttle body: You need to take the snorkle off the throttle body and use a rag rubber gloves and something similar to GM upper engine cleaner to clean the TB throat and edges and both sides of the throttle plate. Do not spray carb cleaner into the TB. Pour it on a rag and clean it manually, it will take 20 to 30 min once you get the snorkle off. The only real code or read out is something I have noticed on here happens to others and that is the traction c. Light turns on and I lose 1st gear. Do u know much about that? BodybyFisher
Don't clear them. We need to see what has been set. @BillyDz-es•T•es With the key on not running, Press and hold the high fan and off buttons on the HVAC panel till all the lights light then release. Either video tape or write down the info that comes up. It comes fast so you may need to turn the key off and restart if you are writing You will see codes like this P0171 current P0174 current P0300 HISTORY Thats what we need, and we can help. BillyDz-es•T•es
I'm out here now and its not working for me yet. Jus to make sure I have the '98 sts. It has the two nobs to off both sides and just the up and down button for the fan. So I pressed it up till it was on high then the two off nobs and haven't seen anything yet... BillyDz-es•T•es
srry it's been a while I wasn't driving the car for some time but I'd to start fixing these things. I appreciate any help you can give. the current codes are ~abs c1295 ~Ipm b1343 ~rss c1738 the car is driving like it missing a cylinder or bad spark plug. the idle is shaky and as you initially start giving it gas the motor(car) shakes till you start moving but quite a bit of power is gone and you can just feel and hear it's missing. Idles like it's cam'd and the check engine is flashing off and on...
