OynxSTS
OK, the original Passenger side mirror was cracked on my 02 STS. As per some sage advice from this board I scored a perfect used one on Evil Bay for < 1/10 of the cost of a new on from the dealer.... I have read the post in the tech section as to how to install... Seems fairly straight forward... except: 1) Where should I place the 2x3 (that was noted in tech) across the mirror? (vertical? horizontal? both?) 2) The plastic lugs (that snap in) are really tight... How hard can you push before I crack this one? 3) Are there any tips, tricks? (Heat? Lube? Chants? Prayers?) Easin' down the highway in a new Cadillac, I had a fine fox in front, I had three more in the back ZZTOP, I'm Bad I'm Nationwide Greg
OynxSTS
No need to reply... I got it For the benefit of others, I'll answer my own post... 1) Didn't use 2x3 though I would guess Vertical is the answer... A big wad of Bubble wrap did the trick for me. 2) Pressue = LOTS... I would guess about 90% of what it takes to break the glass... this is not easy 3) I lubed each lug and that helped But I'm not sure if its needed... One of the most nerve-wracking things I have ever attempted... The mirrors aren't cheap. I did like you and found 3 of them on ebay cheap, I bought them all in case things did not go as planned. As far as the 2x3 block, I put it in the middle over the studs to cover as much surface area on the mirror as possible so not to add undo pressure in one spot.
