Draining Battery on Deville 03

Recommended Posts

Need help here. Have had a problem 3 times. First occasion while at an intersection the car suddenly died. Restarted and it came back. 2nd Occasion while still in garage the startup was too quiet and then die. Had it restarted 3 times, it comes on but will not continue on running then the message "battery not charging" came up. I charged it for 15 minutes and it started fine, but didn't actually drive the car for a week until it was ready for the shop. Had it charged for 30 minutes before driving to visit the shop. The shop couldn't find any problem. This morning the car ran fine even having four different stops, but when the car was used again this afternoon I made it to my destination fine, but when I was ready to leave the store the car would start up, but somehow the engine slows down then die when I put it into reverse. Had to restart 4 times and the last restart I let it ran for five minutes without reversing and somehow it ran okay but nervous to get to traffic or stop signs. Currently charging it, but the charger shows it has only 25% charged. So what could be causing this problem? All lights went off like it has always been. Can anyone one help me please. I had the battery checked at advance auto parts and was told my battery is okay but needs charging. Charged it overnight that's why I was able to run in for couple of days without problem until this afternoon.

Thank you.

When I took it to the shop at the dealership I told them to do a diagnostic test and they told me they could not find any problem. they drove the car hoping the message will show again, but it didn't come up. So I took it home. I will check advance auto parts if they could check it for me.

Thank you for the advice.

Do you show a check engine light?

Has the battery been load tested and the terminals cleaned?
