01 eldo when I close the power trunk it makes a loud clunk noise

Check the hinges and make sure that both have a clear path.

Are you hearing the noise from the pull-down motor?

Check the lock itself and see if the mechanism is sticking.  It might just need some grease.

The pull-down assembly will emit a loud cluck when the deck lid reaches the fully closed position - it is the paddle switch that is a limit switch that cuts the power to the motor at the down position.  Could this be what you're hearing?  Is there any way you could record the noise and post the video?
