Plastic fuel rail

Hi all. I see my 1997 Deville has a plastic fuel rail. I dont see anything obvious to be a problem with it .

The question I have is should I be worried to take a road trip with it? I planned on taking it before I knew it had the plastic rail.

I imagine the dealer wont help. I will have to change out the rail when I get some time. I am sure there is no open recall for it if has been done already.

I had a used engine installed in december and did not realize it had to old style rail.

Thanks all

Most of the pics are still there but not hyperlinked due to the forum update & swap from bbcode.

Ok so   I will have to check for the numbers on the rail itself. No numbers means I have to change it. Numbers means it is good for now.

I plan to replace the whole intake anyway but would like to use the car for my trip this week.

I use no ethanol if that helps

You should be ok.  Just don't touch it or move it till the day you swap it out.  The day you do swap it out, i suggest a thorough cleaning of your egr.

I miss my nylon fuel rail.  Cleaning the egr pintle is a pita now.  Luckily i have not needed to clean it since i spun it with a drill and torx bit.

Did you check to verify the fuel rail is not under the recall. There is no time or mileage limit on most recalls.

If the rail is a recall unit they still would do it, unless the recall was done already under your VIN. Even if it was I would still contact them and tell them what happened, not all dealerships are hard to deal with ;) Especially on recall items......
