DISABLE TRACTION CONTROL

You can also temporarily disable the Trac Control on our OBD1 cars thru the PCM overide feature. It's been a while, haven't done it since I ran the Goose at the strip. I just looked it up on another forum and found it... ;)

At least on my 94' STS it works that way:

1. Turn the ignition key on

2. Press and hold "A/C OFF" and "Wormer" button for 3 sec

3. Wait and look, you may get some interesting info about codes stored

3. Press "HI" when it displays "PCM?"

4. Press "Low" until you get "PCM OVERRIDE?"

5. Press "HI"

6. Press "Low" to get PS24 on a display (that is the last overridable code, so it just faster to get it presing "Low"), or press "HI" untill you get PS24.

7. "...When PS24 is selected, the display will alternate between '--' for one second and the current state of traction controldisable override ('99' for override active and '00' for override not active). Pressing the WARMER button will disable traction control for the next 11 ignition cycles and display '99'. Pressing the COOLER button will allow normal program control of traction control and display '00'."

8. Turn ignition off.

Transaction control will be disabled just for 11 ignition cycles, and it will back then.

There's a button in the glove compartment that you push to disable the traction control.

-- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes
-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data
-- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC
Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars.

I tend to think the button came in 95, but it resets when you restart the car anyhow

Nope, no button for me. And from what ive heard the button style traction control disabler only allows 2nd gear starts, where as pcm override 24 lets you retain your first gear.

Are you sure you have traction control?
