Stan S
I'm going to replace the water pump on my 99 Concours 65k mi, it's starting to seep just a little. I emailed Gmotors for a price on a new pump and they suggest that I also replace the W/PUMP COVER -W/P COVER GASKET AND THERMOSTAT GASKET. When I replaced the pump on my 94, I reused the old cover and gasket, (a silicone seal as I remember) and never had any problems. Is there anything different on the 99 that I should be aware of or a need to replace these items? Or just somebody trying to sell parts. Thanks, Stan
jhall
If the cover seal is the silicone (red) type, stays in the groove when the cover is removed and is not cut, crushed or otherwise damaged, it can be reused. For a few extra bucks, it might give you some peace of mind that you won't have to go back and rework it.
