jer
The Service Engine Soon light has come on twice in the last 2500 miles in my '98 DeVille. It stays on through about 10 ignitions and then goes off. Coincidentally I got a card from the dealer suggesting 72K mile service. I am at 73K. Does this come on as a reminder of the suggested service interval connected to the mileage? The codes do not indicate anything active/current. Do I have to take it to the dealer? I am not confident of them. I plan on only keeping the car another 3 months. Any advice? Thanks, Jer
JimD
My advice is: continue to clear the codes and run away from a so-called 72,000 mile service. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
Ranger
It the "Service Engine Soon" light is on then there is a code stored that will tell you what the fault is. It could be as simple as a slow responding O2 sensor that can be ignored. It is not a service reminder.
