If #5 is not available, you can remove it and see if any fabricator can repair it.

We used to make gaskets, huh BBF?

Rock Auto has the gasket https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/cadillac,1993,deville,4.9l+v8,1025750,cooling+system,water+inlet+gasket,10223

The water pump inlet housing develop a little pinhole leak in the actual housing. You have to remove the timing cover to access the housing.

John, I never did but my Dad made gaskets.

The inlet gasket is available on rock auto as John noted.

I did search and didnt find the water pump inlet anywhere even ebay. I would definately check the dealer however.

As someone noted I would have the old part braised after cleaning it up.

This doesnt look like a fun job at all.

Ok, I called the dealer, the water pump inlet is available and it is $113. Must be paid for and ordered.

The front covers are not hard to do, the hard part of the job is getting the front of the engine oil pan resealed. You will need a puller to remove the crank pulley

I would recommend removing the oil pan for someone that hasn't done a front cover before. There are 4 bolts that go into the front cover at the front of the oil pan, the gasket at the front of the pan has metal "washers" to prevent over-tightening, these are removed if the oil pan is left in place when the front cover is removed.

The oil pan is an easy but albeit messy job to do at home. Cleaning the old gasket off the engine block is the biggest challenge, esp at the rear main as there are 2 small studs for the pan nuts, sometimes the studs come out when the nuts are removed, that is a good thing if that happens :) I remove them anyway if I can get them out without a lot of effort, if they don't come out easily leave them in and clean around them.

If the front cover is okay be SURE to stick the inlet gasket to the back of the cover so it can NOT move.it is a bit of a balancing act to get the inlet bolts started through the w-pump. Patience is required :)

A couple of other "tips"

If you can, put the vehicle up in the air and remove the drain plug, let it sit overnight to allow the oil to drain into the pan. Put the drain plug back in and remove the pan.

Be SURE to use silicone sealer at the 4 corners of the pan, between the 2 corner bolts at all 4 corners.

The gasket technology has probably changed so if there are instructions in the gasket set, follow those instructions......

lol so just for fun I spoke to cadillac today and they don't carry the inlet. Can't find it on any parts sites they recommended either. Fingers crossed its just gaskets like I think it is. I have some friends, with a little more automotive experience than me, coming to help me look at everything this friday, hopefully we can find out what the root cause is so I can order parts

I've had good luck finding out-of-production parts by doing a web search on the GM part number. There are a number of GM dealers that sell online and some of them may have the part in stock, and you can bring up a list of people that list that part number with a web search. Click on the links until the "Out of stock" message isn't there. Or, it may be available from an old wholesaler or odd lots warehouse and up on eBay, and the part number search will turn up an eBay listing.

I called my local dealer TODAY and they can order it, I stated that above, it is $113. The dealer name is King O'Rourke Cadillac and and their phone number is 631-982-4449. It is in fact called the Water Pump Inlet. ANY Cadillac dealer should be able to order it. If you need help with this I will go directly to the dealer for you. Hope this helps.

I'd JUMP all over that inlet from the dealer, Good work finding that Mike :hatsoff:

Two other tools you'll need for the job - 15 MM wrench or socket and a 45 torx bit.. 2 - 15mm head bolts on the right side of engine and the 2 torx hed bolts are under the w-pump pulley. Told ya I've slept since I did one :P

Don't laugh, I thought there were 4 bolts on the pulley connecting it to the pump, you remember it as 3. But I believe I was thinking of the old clutch fans that had 4 nuts.
