cetheri
We have a new interstate highway in Middle Tennessee that is a speed demon's dream - Interstate highway 840. There is hardly ever much traffic on the more rural stretches and it is plenty wide. I've aired out the STS until it was up against the limiter on a number of occasions. The more eastern stretch between Murfreesboro and I-40 is the place to do it though, as I've spotted the T.H.P. patrolling the western side near Franklin. yenko
How long do you guess it would take to reach top speed in an STS! Just curious. IMPORT CRUSHER
bigfoo
lol.. i've had mine past 130 several times, probably way too many times and it handles perfectly fine at that speed... of course the reason for going that speed was either 1. following other cars that were racing , or 2. trying to keep someone from passing me , 3. racing other cars for fun :> STS really shines at 110-120+ mph though i'll tell ya
STYES
Note to cadiking. This is probably true. GM is the leader in this black box technology. Dealers look for this in certain cars that have the capability to perform this well, and ones that might entice one to do so. It is a shame that GM is this way as Ford has a much better attitude about it. To try and find a GM tech to help you overcome this will be almost impossible. The liabilities are too great to risk anything these days. The few who do have the knowledge refuse to share it, as their own livelyhoods could be at stake if they did. an01sts
I'm glad to see that other people pussed out too. I was wondering wether or not I was the only *smurf* around. There are 2 reasons I pussed out. First and most important, is personal safety. Second is the leagle conquenses. Imainge if off at the vanishing point, a cop was there shooting radar. I would have been major brunt toast, and I have no idea of how they handle such things. I had to see what the STS had. I have a 69 Firbird 400, 3:23 screw and slush box. It does 113, and it gets up to 113 in nothing flat. What I found out is that in street applications, the car has more than I have. Be careful! FSchuett
Hello, where do you run your fast car ????? What for a question !!!!! I come from germany, the land without a speedlimit on the highway Yes it´s true, I can drive 169 mls/h (270 km/h) with my Jaguar XJ12 and 150 mls/h (140 km/h) with my ´95 Eldorado legal on any highways. Last year I´m driving from Munich to Hamburg (500 mls / 800 km) in exact 4 hours and 20 minutes - at sunday night (truck drive prohibition in germany) With best wishes from the land without a speedlimit at the highway (GERMANY) Frank
coolnesss
Back to a post awhile ago - no they can't void your warranty for driving your car fast - that's nonsense, unless, of course, you've fooled with the computer and removed the speed limiter - but then, even then, I don't think it should void the warranty. There's nothing in the owner's manual or anything that says don't drive your car over a certain mph. I have a 98 ETC which has the speed limited at 130 because of the tires, and I regularly get it up to that speed - call me crazy, but I do it all kind of places. I only got one good ticket, and the cop wrote me for 108. I had to hire another lawyer - a specialist in speed tickets - and it cost me 500 bucks - but I didn't lose my license. I am proud of that ticket!!!!! The cop was PISSED, and even more so when he found out I was a lawyer. PS to the '88 Eldo at 136 - what was the red idiot light saying???
