90 Fltwd Brougham door weatherstrip question

Recommended Posts

Working on a 1990 Fleetwood Brougham and I need to replace the driver and passenger door weatherstrip.

The weatherstrip is mounted on the door, rather than the body opening. Near as I can tell it is held in place by metal channels on the door and a few plastic clips. It is either glued in or seriously frozen in place and I don't want to start ripping it to pieces.

The service manual I have only shows how to replace the pinch molding style that mounts in the door opening.

Any advice?

Ok, just took some tenacity. The top and sides are pushed into a channel with a little glue in the corners. The bottom is held in with little push in clips attached to the weatherstrip.

Installation was a little bit of a bear. Some soapy water and a putty bone helped ease the new weatherstrip in to the channel.

glad you got it. How is the seal on the body. they have a tendancy to shrink and cause wind noise
