Hello and happy holidays, everyone!

My 1996 DeVille seems to be misfiring. Replaced all the ignition wires, EGR and mass air flow. No SES light. RPM at idle 625, misfire accompanied by quick drop to 575 then quick rise to 675 then settles back to normal idle. Would coil pack be to blame even with no SES?

Thoughts?

Thanks!

The first thing to do is to check the OBD codes. If you have a P0300 (a few misses will set that code without turning on the MIL), you can think arcing, you can think that there may be something else wrong. Possibilities include sticking ISC motor, bad or wrong plug wires, arcing from the plug boot, and other things besides a breaking down coil.

Post the OBD codes here.

The codes that you get from the dashboard will show the P0300 before the MIL turns on but you need a code reader to get the P030n code, where n is the cylinder that was missing. If there is no P0300 code, either in HISTORY or CURRENT, we probably will have a code or two that points to the ISC.
