The Volt, which debuted in tandem with recovery from economic downturn, was the cornerstone laid in an effort to reestablish General Motors’ position as a stable industry leader. Some three years after the introduction of the Volt, with purchases of luxury goods leading a recovering economy, it seemed the right time for GM to introduce an indulgent version of the plug-in hybrid: the 2014 Cadillac ELR coupe, which was previewed by the brand’s 2009 Converj concept.
