Mailbag: 83 Eldo blowing smoke, Service Now

i have recently purchased a 1983 Eldarado Biriatz . the issue i am having is the Serves Now light is on and the exhaust seems to be blowing large amount of smoke.
could someone please advise.

If it happened suddenly, check and see if the oil is over-filled.

If the service now light is illuminated, there will be a code stored in the diagnostic system. Simultaneously press and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on the climate control panel. The codes will be displayed on the fuel data center. When you see .7.0, the system is finished displaying the codes and is awaiting input.

This is a 1983 Eldorado Biriatz; it will have ALDL, though.
