Replacing Spark Plugs - Need some advice

Recommended Posts

I'm replacing the spark plugs on my 2004 DTS and there is something (looks like a second EGR) mounted on the back coil pack that I am having a hell of a time removing.

I got the 3 bolts out for the bracket, but there is still the whole solenoid or whatever that has a steel flex pipe to the exhaust. I can get at the bolts on the top or bottom of the flex pipe enough to get them out and remove the solenoid.

Any tips on how to remove this thing? And what exactly is it for?

I'm hoping the rest is the same as my 02 Seville was?

There's a secondary AIR shut-off valve there, which may be the mystery component.

I think that's what it was. I think I could have found a better place to mount that...

I found a video on youtube that pointed to remove the lower nuts on the flex pipe. Not exactly the easiest task, but I made a jig to make it easier. Just have the front left and I'm done for today!
