KMA-367 License Plates

I was talking to a co-worker of mine, and his father is a cop here in Los Angeles, CA. He has a license plate frame that says "Los Angeles" on the top brim, and "KMA-367" on the bottom.

Supposedly, it's the code for radio communications from the 50's to the early 80's (after some research online). And usually only cops and family have these plates. Does anyone know anything more on this, or have a picture of it that they could post?

He's getting me one (he says), but it's taking a while. I wanted to see if I could have one made from a friend at a carshop. Thanks!

Other ones are KJC-625 (New Age ones) and 11-99 (CHP Foundation).

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

I have a lot of family members and friends that are in law enforcement. Those liscence plate frames are NOT taken seriously by the survieling or arresting officer. Unless you pull a badge (a get outta jail free card helps too, LOL) your'e probably going downtown. ;)

'93 STS.. opened, dropped, wide...fast.

My friend says he's gotten away with a couple tickets from the license plate. Officer asked him "Are you a cop?" He responded "My uncle was." Officer: "Take it easy" (This is not the friend whose father was a cop, not cop in family).

So maybe it works on rookie cops? I guess it can be very helpful or have the opposite effect.

I am sure it depends on the cop and the circumstances. A girl I work with has a brother who is a cop and she thinks she can get away with anything...... and usually does  I had a friend tell me that a friend of his is an Ill. State Trooper and will not give a ticket to anyone with a Purple Heart plate. Now I don't get pulled over very often but the one time I did, the Purple Heart plate didn't help me a bit. It was however a local cop, not a state trooper.

Now that I think of it, a few years ago a buddy and myself were leaving a, ahem, "gentlemens club" in Northern Wisc. He was driving my car and got stopped for 10 over in town. The cop asked where we were and we were straight up with him. He asked how much we had to drink and how far we were going. He told us to be careful and sent us on our way. Now, I wonder if those plates had anything to do with it. As I said, it all depends.
