Bruce Nunnally
In Cadillac This or That, we present two Cadillac models or ads with two different cars at two price points. To play, you examine the ads and reply with 1) which Cadillac you would prefer and 2) why. Would you rather have a 1969 Cadillac Eldorado that needs a lot of restoration for $1,500? Up for sale is a 1969 Cadillac Eldorado that needs some restoration work. It has very low mileage. It will run and drive reliably with just a little work. When I acquired it a few months ago I was able to start it easily and drive it. The engine ran smooth, transmission shifted well and the brakes still worked, but needed bleeding. All the electrics in the car seemed to function. The car is complete and has some minor surface rust and a dent in the driver's side rear quarter panel. I am asking 1,500 OBO and have a clear Texas title, please call or text or a show-quality 1972 Cadillac DeVille for $11,500? 1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille 2 Door Hardtop in EXCELLENT SHAPE, Asking 11,500. Recently AWARDED TROPHY at Local Antique and Classic Car show on October 14, 2012. The car has just over 54,000 miles on it and is a REAL head turner for the age. 4 BRAND NEW TIRES put on in July, only driven to a few Classic Car shows and Cruise Nights. The car is all tuned up with new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, NEW alternator, NEW water pump NEW (NOT REBUILT) starter, NEW shocks, NEW muffler and tailpipe. The brakes are all NEW front and rear and the TRANSMISSION was JUST REBUILT ONLY 1,500 miles ago!!!! The body and finish is incredible!!! NO RUST NOT EVEN UNDERNEATH THE CAR IT IS BLACK WITH A BURGANDY LEATHER INTERIOR IN EXCELLENT SHAPE! ;..... THANK YOU What do you think, This or That? Eldorado, or Coupe Deville? KHE
I'd take the black '72 Coupe DeVille. In my opinion, it is a much nicer looking car and needs little in the way of repairs, etc. Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
Göran W
IMHO the Eldo is the better lookin´ even if the CDV is in better shape! Compared to swedish price level they are boath very cheep! Since I need a daily driver I would go for the CDV and buy the Eldo for restauration........
Cadillac Jim
To me the 1972 Deville is just another old car, 95,000 sold and the 1969 Eldorado was a more memorable car, even though they did sell 23,000 of them so they really aren't candidates for "classic" status either. They both have the 472 cid engine, but the 1969 has a 10.5:1 compression while the 1972 has only 8.5:1 compression and a few less horsepower. There was a lot of work done on the 1972 but most of it isn't expensive. The main thing I would worry about on the 1969 is the body work on the left rear quarter panel. It seems to me that for about the same amount of money you could have the 1969 Eldorado, and you would do the work (or get it done) yourself. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars.
