Bruce Nunnally
I can see this as a technology GM could add to future Cadillacs. Pratt & Miller, the Racing Support Team, has developed a system that senses cars approaching from the rear, adds symbology to your video display to highlight the approaching vehicle, and to show relative speed and direction of travel. Appears to work great. Imagine this showing up on your navigation system if a car was coming up behind you at a high rate of over-taking. Video logs pulled from Corvette Racing's new radar collision avoidance system, as debuted at their 12 Hours of Sebring victory on March 16, 2013. The video is not edited in any way other than the real-time processing that is shown while driving. The color of each marker indicates the car's closing speed. The software runs on a custom Linux PC designed and built by Pratt & Miller for Corvette Racing, and uses a Bosch long-range radar sensor. Note: There is no audio because the rear view camera has no microphone.
