My 2000 Cadillac deville is leaking alot of antifreeze

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Bobby I'm new to the forum. I recently bought a 2000 Cadillac deville my first northstar of Many caddys that I've had. Anyways recently I purchased a 2000 Cadillac deville with 89k miles and did some work replacing TPS sensor, Crankshaft sensors upper and lower, fuel level sensor but replaced the whole pump, and heater core flush. Today was my first time taking it out on the highway traveling at speeds 65-75 Mph on a 50 mile hike anyways I got back home and notice a slight sight of white smoke coming from the left front fender took a look at the temp gauge normal temp. Turn the car off step outside and notice alot of antifreeze on the ground coming from underneath right side. I'm guessing maybe a hose or waterpump. Any ideas?

U just flushed the heater core? Did u replace any of the heater hoses? New clamps? But why did u flush heater core? No heat could be due to low coolant or air which is usually a sign of coolant loss on a northstar. Especially a recently purchased one. Like someone selling a caddy cuz it is burning coolant?

Sounds like you did not get the heater core hose clamps tightened. That would explain coolant leaking on the right side. I don't recall if they were using the quick disconnect fittings on the heate hoses in 2000.

No my mechanic didn't change any hoses or clamps, I'm off to the repair shop to see what's the outcome

How was the heater core flushed if the hoses were not disconnected???

There were disconnected but none of the hoses got replaced. Probably the mechanic didn't put a clamp or hose on right or at least tell me it needed a new hose and clamps. Gave him $700 to fix it prior to this problem

Former owner added stop leak. Plugged heater core. So u get to pay mechanic to flush core. And spend more time going back to fix leak. Such is life

Happened to me once, and it turned out to be a cracked radiator tank. If it does it at a hot idle, leave it running when you get home from an errand and pop the hood and see if you can tell where it's coming from. If it's in front of the battery, it's probably the radiator.
