The Traction Control warning Light has been on for several days. Not sure what to do next. Yesterday the car stopped running twice when braking for traffic lights but restarted. Not sure if this related to TCS warning light issue. Anybody had same issue or have suggetions??

I have some codes.

ABS C1295 History

ABS U1000 History

IPC U1000 Current

IRC U1016 History

PDM U1301 History

What next?

C1295 - Brake Lamp Switch Circuit Open

Check for blown fuse or loose or broken wire.

Thanks Jim.

I have been searching the site for a list of the codes. Are you aware of the link to them?

I'll have to see if I have any brake lights not working.

Still the traction control warning light concerns me.

The brake light circuit being open, "MAY" trigger the Traction code.

I will look for a good link for you and post it a little later.

I cleared all codes.

Drove the car 20 miles.

Determined traction control warning light turned on when either left or right turn signal was turned on.

I turned car off, restarted,no TC light on, turned on turn signal, immedaiately TC light came on. Repeated 6-7 times all with same results.

Ran the codes again and got these:

ABS C1295 History

IPC U1000 Current

IRC U1016 History

ABD ID:8111. I'm not sure what the ID codes actually do or tell.

It seems to me then that C1295, brake lamp circuit ties to turn signal but not sure how that is related to the TC warning light.

Could the IPC U1000 code indicate some sort of electical isssue in the instrument panel?

Any thoughts or suggestions??

With car stopped...Turn on the left side turn signal.... look at the indicator on the dash

With car stopped...Turn on the right side turn signal.... look at the indicator on the dash

Does one of your turn signals blink faster then the other one??

Also, while the left side is blinking... walk to the front of the car and make sure the bulb is actually blinking.

Walk to the rear of the car and make sure the bulb is actually blinking.

Do the same thing to the right side.

Look at the bulbs for brightness.... is one REAR bulb any brighter than the other one??

Is one FRONT bulb any brighter than the other one?

The blink rate and brightness appears same and good to both front and rear, left & right.

Just noticed however the the left signal light in the outside morror not blinking at all.

Could this be the root of the entire issue?

That beckons another question in itself...is that a simple bulb fix of some kind or a replacement of entire mirror glass assembly?

This could very possibly be the issue... since the brake light and turn signal circuit uses a lot of the same wires.

An "OPEN" in the circuit could be a bad bulb or it could be a loose wire going to the left mirror.

As to what the FIX will involve, I do not know.

I don't know if the bulbs in the mirror glass are replaceable or if you have to replace the mirror glass itself.

The first thing I would do is carefully check the wiring going "TO" the mirror.

I think that is a more likely cause than the bulbs in the mirror being bad.

No.

The mirror glass turn signal is LEDs. And for that matter, so all of the red lamps on the rear of your vehicle.

Tell me this; when you have the traction control warning, can you engage cruise control??

Jim

Drive your car.

Use your cell phone.

I had the C1295 code on my '05 Deville and discovered a piece of dirt/crud on the brake light switch contacts (inside the switch). The switch can be disassembled and the contacts cleaned with a lint free cloth. Do not use anything that is abrasive. Be careful when taking the switch apart as it is spring-loaded and will fly apart.
