But a century ago, the electric starter that debuted in the 1912 Cadillac Touring Edition helped establish Cadillac’s reputation as a test bed of technology and innovation. Cadillac Jim Posted February 16, 2012 Report Share Posted February 16, 2012 Another big one was the two-plane crankshaft in the 1924 V8. The cam went from eight lobes to sixteen, but the secondary vibration went away. The extra counterbalancing weights were compensated by lightening the flywheel. The firing order was the same as the SBC produced from 1955 through the early 1990's and many other V8's.
