Bruce Nunnally
After debating the fuel economy of the 3.6L Cadillac SRX versus her competitors, I wondered what the most economical recent Cadillac was. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) publishes comparative miles per gallon for a variety of models since 1984 at fueleconomy.gov. Because the test model changes from time to time, the charts for all years are kept up to date to the current test specs. The original window sticker values for each model using the test at the time are also available. JohnnyG
Unfortunately, and as we all know, EPA numbers are not the "best" way to determine fuel economy on any particular car. The window sticker on my 2008 shows an expected range of between 19 - 27 mpg, with the number 23 HYWshown in bold letters. It also indicates that new test methods were used beginning with the 2008 model year. Ultimately real life driving is what counts. On a recent (last month) trip of about 900 miles, 3 adult passengers and a COMPLETELY loaded trunk, my DTS delivered a solid 26.5 average, much like my 1999 STS which was closer to 28. Therefore I still believe that the ULEV Northstar V8 was the Caddy economy king, regardless of the FWD vehicle it is installed in, XLR, RWD or AWD, and Supercharged versions excluded of course. Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed.
