wdtexan
I just recently was told by a Cadillac Dealer that my engine was unrepairable. I kept getting a P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Code on the OBDII reader. Did everything we could to try and keep from replacing the engine. It had 103,500 m on it. Never gave any problems before till now. I was driving and pulled in and shut engine off and came back out about 10 min later and started it up and it sounded like a Diesel engine. Well to no avail or help from the dealers and mechanics here I had a new engine installed and with less than 750 miles on it, it has started knocking just like the other engine. Shows 1-3-5 Coilpack intermittent misfire. I am wondering if that isn't all that was wrong with my other engine. I had the coilpack replaced and worked like new for about 200 miles and is doing it again and showing the same code for the 1-3-5 coil intermittent misfire. Or maybe when they installed it the may have cracked the coilpack? Anybody have any other suggestions or ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated in advance. Texas Jim
You say it only had 103,500 miles on the engine. Unless the engine was severely abused or ran without oil or coolant... I find it hard to believe that it was not repairable with that low of mileage on it. Mine has almost 110,000 on it and still runs like a new one. Sorry I can't help much on the misfire...but if it is showing 1,3,5 misfire... I think it almost has to be the coil pack or the wiring associated with the coil pack. wdtexan
Well Texas Jim, I was told by the service manager also that it looked as though the oil had never been changed. I know for a fact I had it serviced at his dealership every 3000-3500 miles. I have the reciepts to document that. Make it short, we pulled the engine and it took a pipe wrench and a 4 foot cheater just to break the oil plug loose. So that shows me they were saying they changed the oil but never did. The only thing that looked changed was the filter. Any way, I have purchased another coil pack for the 1-3-5 cylinders and my brother seems to be a better mechanic than any of those at that dealership. We will see if that fixes it, if not I will let you know. Thank You Jim.
rockfangd
wow. my opinion from what you have written is that you need better mechanic opinions. If the oil hadnt been changed one would think that the oil consumption would have been horrible. with that mileage that engine shouldnt even be broken in yet let alone shot. unless the mechanic is really that shady on changing the oil. Best of luck to you and dont give up. Always remember dont settle on one opinion GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile

wdtexan
Well not sure if you understood me or not that was the engine I had replaced that it took the pipe wrench and cheater to get the oil plug out of. These mechanics at the dealerships around amarillo and tx panhandle need to go back to school if you ask me by some of the answers they have given me. At least I can get a solid answer here from people who have dealt with similar situations. I appreciate any and all suggestions.
rockfangd
I believe I understood. I thought you said your original engine the oil plug was extremely tight and looked to have been not removed GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile

wdtexan
Yes Sir that is correct. I will never take my vehicles back to any of the dealers here. If I have to drive 250 miles to get it serviced or looked at I will. Especially when they sit there and tell a person and hand them a receipt saying that their engine oil was changed. I lost all trust in the dealerships and mechanics in my area after what I have been through. Hopefully this coil pack will solve the problem. I am just waiting for it to arrive so me and my brother can install it.
