I've got a sagging feeling.

My rear end of my Deville has been sagging lately. I keep dragging my mufflers on any high spots in the road. Are there any codes that will indicate where or what to look for? I have adjusted the level switch but it did not raise it any. The last time I looked at the boots on the rear shocks they were pretty cracked, so I do suspect that they maybe the problem. When does the air pump kick on. I guess I need to start there maybe? Where do I start?

The level control compressor will kick in about 30 seconds after the ignition is turned ON. Spray soapy water on the shock boot and check the air lines from the compressor to the shocks.

Thanks Kevin, I never thought about soapy water. I had new rear brake lines put on a while back and I have suspected that the mechanic may have left something unhooked. I inspected the air lines quickly the other day while the car was on the lift when I had the front stabilizer bar replaced. I need to take it to a local garage and put it on a lift and check them closer and use the soapy spray. I just did not want to buy new shocks just to find out that my air pump or a line was bad.

ok the air compressor is supposed to kick on about 5 seconds after turning the key on. Dont confuse it for the fuel pump. the fuel pump kicks on first.

If the compressor is not kicking on check the ELC fuse in the trunk. Aslo should be throwing a code and likely a service ride control message
