jackc
I have some manuals for my 93 Eldorado on order, but I'm wondering if anyone has attempted an at-home installation of a front motor mount on one of these cars. Is there a recommended or correct way to do this? I'm a little leary of the aluminum engine. Thanks in advance for any help. Jack
growe3
It is a fairly straight froward repair. First get the motor mount. It comes complete with bracket so do not try to separate the bracket from the isolator. The parts information was for my 93 STS, I think yours is the same, verify of course. Part Number #22188025 List Price $118.75 Net $81.94 at GM Parts Zone Online Drain coolant Remove both fans Remove radiator Remove the two nuts at the bottom of the motor mount Place jack with a piece of wood under the oil pan of the engine. Raise engine just enough the take the load off of the motor mount. Be cautious, to high and you can damage the heater barrier at the firewall. Unbolt the four bolts that connect the motor mount to the engine. Carefully (watch out for the AC condenser) lift out the motor mount. Install in reverse order. Use a medium thread locker on the bolts that thread into the engine block. After the radiator is in, add two tubes of Bars Leak Golden Seal to the lower radiator hose, before connecting to the water pump. Refill system with a 50/50 mix of the green coolant. Drive'em like you own 'em. - ....................04 DTS............................
