Starting problems with my 2007 STS

Recommended Posts

Hello,

since a few weeks my Cadillac has starting problems.

When I first try to start him you can hear him trying to start, it takes about 10 seconds and than he decide not start. Mostly it starts when I hit the second time the start button. Its equal if the engine is cold or hot. The battery is over 14V and the sparking plugs I replaced after it happens the first time.

The problem is that it happens only sometimes. but its feels like it is happen now more and more....

Also you can sometimes hear a beep signal form the back of the Car after starting or turning of the car. The beep signal is about 4-5 beebs. Its not the same sound like when the car locks.

I will drive to a garage next week to check everthing but I guess they will need a long time to search for the error.

Maybe someone knows the error or got the same problems.

Regards

HeiGer

I would check the fuel pump pressure with the key on and see what you are getting, it sounds like you may have a fuel pump problem. You can buy a fuel gage at a Sears relatively cheaply and there is a schrader valve on the fuel rail that you connect it to.

Let us know how this turns out

Thanks for your reply. I will tell it to my garage to check that in the next week. I am not able to buy spare parts in Germany directly. Every spare part you need will be orderd over Sweden. The garage ordered already a new fuel filter which will be installed next week. I guess they can check the pumb than, too.

I wonder about the "beep" sounds from the back side of the car. Is there for a example a control unit hidden which could make this sound?

Try www.rockauto.com I think they will ship parts to you directly. Let us know how this goes, open the trunk and listen for that beep sound. It could be that the pump is making that noise you are experiencing. Open the gas cap and try putting your ear up to the filler and listening to see if that 'beep' sound is coming from the pump in the tank.

If you need to change your pump let use know, you MAY have a hatch behind your back seat to access your pump. Someone will let us know if that is true on your year

Mike
