Luke Posted October 2, 2011 Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 While many of you may remember, I recently asked a question about Northstar head gaskets, I would have to say that I am on my 7th Northstar and not yet has a single one overheated. A rough estimate is that I have driven about 175,000 miles in Northstar powered Cadillacs with very little problems ever. I have had far more issues with A/C compressors than engines in them. BodybyFisher Posted September 17, 2015 Author Report Share Posted September 17, 2015 It is now 4 years later and the first thing I do when I have an overheating Northstar is to test the coolant for evidence of combustion by-products. I have a Balkamp tester with about a quart of fluid and it takes about 10 min to do. Just tested one yesterday.
