Lyrics: I got a new Escalade'Cause I need it To carry pieces that I need To do all the things I do To do the things that I do Please don't steal my Escalade It's an instrument I need How I play the notes of my life It's my Cadillac We both want my Escalade But let's think of how you'll feel When You have your own You'll say to some guy, Hey You! Please don't steal my Cadillac! Please don't steal my Escalade It's an instrument I need How I play the notes of my life It's my Cadillac [bridge] Please don't steal my Escalade It's the way that I do The things That I do You know that we all want to Just do the things that we do This is the original mix. Cadillac Jim
Very nice. This one is a bit of a mood change from the swing jazz of the previous tunes. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Bruce Nunnally
Thanks Jim! I keep learning a bit more each piece that I do. This one is a Ballad done with an upbeat style & a slight push on the tempo. I don't know what genre it really fits in; maybe "Adult Contemporary"? what do you think? Cadillac Jim
I find that trying to find a defining niche for new art necessarily arbitrary and judgmental, but, since you ask, Adult Contemporary works well. It has elements of blues, jazz, and... rock, but jazz predominates. It has a rolling beat that does not flaunt a 4/4 measure but is driven by its own tempo and mood, something not often seen in simpler types of music. An extreme example of this is Bach's Jesu, joy of man's desiring: I think that Jerry Garcia might have gotten some of his inspiration from Bach and others. Despite your protestations, your work shows quite a bit of musical knowledge.
Thanks Jim; as always I appreciate your comments. I don't have a good sense for genre, but I hate if I go to listen to something thinking it is R&B and what they meant was Death-Metal. Nothing against the latter, but good to know ahead of time what one is biting into.
