JANRA
I HAVE 03 SEVILLE SLS WITH 80K, RUNS GREAT! HOWEVER THE PCM CODE P0741 HAS BENN COMING ON FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS NOW TOOK TRIP TO COLORADO ABOUT 2000.00 MILES, CODE WENT OFF UNTILL ARRIVED bACK HOME TO ARIZONA. BEEN STAYING ON, bEEN REMOVING IT. NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM WHAT SO EVER. Tranny SHIFTS SMOOTH, Been driving around in 3rd around Phoenix when Not going over 40 mph. I fear the code is for real and comes on for a reason, a $2600.00 reason. Question: The tranny should shift 3 times when going on to a highway above 60 mph? Its hard to detect....... because it shifts so smooth.... THE CODE SUGGESTS, (TTC SYSTEM STUCK ON) COULD THIS BE ALSO A VACUUM PROBLEM? I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MAKE A STATEMENT ABOUT SOME CAD DEALERS: I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND ALSO MY POWER SEATS WERE NOT WORKING. THE ADVISOR TOLD ME $1370 TO REPAIR, ALSO $2600.00 T0 repair tran. ADVISED CAR WASN'T WORTH THE COST OF REPAIR AND DECIDED AGAINST IT. I found the problem with the seats and been working ever since. HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS....THANKS been a great car , my 3rd Cadillac
rockfangd
well first of all welcome to caddyinfo forum. Please try not to use caps so much. It is too much on the eyes. I see that code quite a bit. It could be the TCC solenoid being faulty or a pressure droppage causing the code. Research P0741 and you will find a bit on it GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile
Cadillac Jim
Regarding the dealer that came up with the huge repair bills - try another dealer. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. JANRA
ok, thanks for info, first time on. I love my Seville, great ride. enough power and well done on inside, all the bells an whistles. any take why the CES light would go off when I got on the highway and stay off till arrived back in ARIZONA. I had been using premium fuel and then for sometime used reg unleaded and went back to premium for better performance. Does the transmission when in D4 shift 3 times. Just trying to figure all options. Would like to keep the car , unless its going to cost a bundle of cash. Thanks
Ranger
That code means TCC stuck OFF. In reality it probably isn't. You have a leaky seal and that is causing more torque converter slippage than is allowed, thus the SES light. You can check that by holding a steady speed and very lightly tap the brake pedal. You will probably still see an RPM increase. If so the TCC solenoid is functioning. If the problem was the solenoid, the P0741 would be accompanied by P1860. You can drive it like this for ever and only suffer about 1 MPG in fuel usage, BUT you won't pass an emissions test if you need one where you live. The trans should "shift" 3 times (watch the tack). 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. If you are in 4th at 41 MPH and veeery gently accelerating you can sometimes feel the TCC lock up (that is not a shift). Mine comes on with that code occasionally as well. Usually on a slight incline while holding a steady speed. I just clear it and motor on. Here is some more reading on it. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/northstar-performance-technical-discussion/149834-information-p0741-p1860-1998-a.html
