The simplest way to test the twilight sensor is to plop a clipboard or other totally opaque object on it and see if the headlights come on, and the dash lights dim, in a minute or less. If the delay slider (above the light switch) is about a quarter inch (6 mm) to the right of the detent, the delay is 15 to 30 seconds; that's the most preferred setting.

thanks for the help you all. I was looking for the twilight sensor but could not find it. The dash board seems to have been reupolstered therefor the switch is no where to be found. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the light switch. ?

The twilight sensor "SHOULD BE" in the front portion of the dash... 3 or 4 inches back from the windshield, in the exact center... when measuring from side to side.

If the dashboard has been recovered, and they covered the twilight sensor, they had to disconnect it or jumper it, to keep the headlights from being on all the time.
