wadamt16
After I flushed the coolant, the coolant temp went over 212 very quick. It was normal before I flushed. What could be? Adam

the gold2
Thanks for posting the update. What technique did you use to rid the air ??
wadamt16
well actually it will keep go over 220 and I turned it off. The gold2 - I just take the radiator cap off then I started the engine and wait till the thermostat started to open. When the thermostat opened, air and water popped out. I watched the temp while do this. I just traveled 1005 miles (from North Georgia to Rochester, NY, stopped by Washington, DC) and temp coolant was about 190 all the way and no problem! the gold2
Great ! glad you had a safe trip. thanks for the reply. I also try to park the car on an uphill slope then remove radiator cap and wait for air to come out. The slope helps move trapped air.
Ranger
Just run the engine with the cap off and rev it a few times, Add coolant as the level goes down, then cap it up. Any air left in the system will work it's way out after a few heat/cool cycles. Just keep an eye on the reservoir tank and top it off if necessary.
