dbradley269
I have a 95 Deville with front wheel drive and I need to put on new brake pads. I can't figure out how to get calipers off back wheels. Got bottom bolt out but don't understand the top connector. Any help appreciated.
KHE
If the 95 Deville is the same as the Sevilles of that vintage, you need to remove the bolt that retains the parking brake cable at the rear knuckle. Then the caliper will swing up and out of the way. You will need a brake cube to turn in the caliper piston so it will clear the new pads. rockfangd
I have rotten luck with those bolts. I have had 2 cadillacs with all 4 bolts broken. they seem to snap easily. Oh did I mention this is upstate NY. GM FAN FOREVER Nice, clean, luxury= fine automobile
CelesteEve
KHE: is right. that bolt at the knuckle needs to loosened so it moves or the caliper will not swing up. Also, as a reminder, when you are putting everything back together make sure you put the head of the parking brake line back into its knotch on the caliper BEFORE putting the caliper back on....found this out the hard way. then tighten the bolt at the knuckle. The 2 bolts on the caliper anchor bracket should be sprayed with any loosening agent first. Ive never broke off any bolts as long as I soak them good before removing them.
