Today when I got in and was driving my 08 DTS, the Ext said 82 as I drove around town. After about an hour it said 83. I checked and it was 111 outside. After a little bit longer it read 110. I figured that the temp had dropped a degree and it was readable...But it continued up to 113 and then 114.

Anyone know what's going on?

Probably a faulty ambient temperature sensor or dirty connector/damaged wiring. Sensor will be located in the air stream in front of the A/C condenser (hood latch support?).

Get it fixed because your interior temperature control is fine tuned by the ambient temperature signal.

Mine does that ... but only after I have just had it washed...

The sensor has to dry before it is accurate...

My first thought was... check the wires/plugin under the hood in front of the radiator...

Considering how hot it was today... the 113/114 part might be correct.

Picture of mine as I was coming back from SE Texas a little while ago...

Been there ... done that ... way too many times to count... :) :)

The second time mine did that... I headed for the dealer, which was only about 5 miles from where I had it washed at.

By the time I got there, it was ok.

As I drove by I saw a couple of guys washing some of the new cars on the lot with a portable power washer, mounted on a truck.

As he was spraying water thru the grill I had my "EUREKA" moment...and was really glad I had not actually pulled into the service area and have everybody laugh at me. :) :)
